ESKAY
Her real name is NOMVYISEKO NDWUNI born and raised in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape , 07 July 1987 from a religious family , she started where it all starts inside the church and slowly developed from there. After finishing her high school she enroled for a BA at the university of Fort Hare in the same province , this where many politicians got their education e.g Nelson Mandela , Robert Sobukwe , Robert Mugabe , Oliver Tambo got their tertiary education.
An Afro House singer, Eskay started singing in Sunday school. Her passion for music keeps her listening to radio, singing at school functions , clubs and other events in her home province. As a singer /songwriter she has got a number of good songs that can propel her musical career to greater heights. She came into contact with One Wish Entertainment late in 2012 during AIRCO’s road shows. The 25-year-old worked with George Lusenga from One Wish Entertainment Recording Label, who discovered her in an East London Music Hall. She presented her case and label decided to give her a chance with one album which was recorded and produced in Pretoria by Floyd Da Great Sizani , YINDE LENDLELA/LONG ROAD TO TRAVEL.
Slowly the album is picking up momentum , we hope that this will be the start of good things to come ,each song on the album is different enabling to the album to cater for each person with a different taste. The young woman loves nothing more than writing music and performing also works with producer Floyd ‘The Great’ Sizani.
In high school, she formed Sweet Geez, an R&B and Pop group, with two friends, for which she wrote. “My songs NdingumXhosa/Inzima lendlela and Undiphile that are personal to me,” she said. Eskay would love to feature Simphiwe Dana, KB, Khabonina and Zonke Dikana.She is currently studying towards Bachelor of Arts Degree at Fort Hare University. Eskay believes it is important to be multilingual as South Africa is a diverse country and artists need to learn the eleven official languages to accommodate every citizen.
The singer said God is her strength as she could not have gone this far without his grace and blessings.
Eskay says that school is very important. She said one should stay there and always have a plan B in case plan A doesn't work out, and that one needs to work hard and hustle if they want their dreams to come true
